When you are new to an Albuquerque zip code, everything can be a bit overwhelming at first. There are all the personal details you have to get out of the way. Selling your Durham investment real estate, setting up a new bank account with a new branch, finding a good school for your kids, and so on.
Once those little details are complete, and they may take a while, you may think it is time to relax, but the fact is there is still more information to be gathered, more facts which need to be found out. Starting out a new home in a new municipality often means there will be plenty of questions regarding city by-laws, county regulations, and other matters. You can't count on the zoning in your new Albuquerque neighbourhood on being the same as that in your old neighbourhood, but where do you turn for information?
Well, a lot of people prefer to use the government listings made publicly available on different sources, although of course first they have to find out what those sources are. Where, for example, can you call if you are wondering about the proper method of sewage disposal for your recreational vehicle, or to find out whether or not you are allowed to discharge a firearm in your backyard?
Because we are living in a digital age, with easy Internet access available to everyone, many will turn first to the computer for the city information they need. We do think there is a lot of good information available on the Internet (obviously) although most municipalities, and this includes Albuquerque, have yet to take full advantage of these services. If you go to the Albuquerque website for example, you will find convenient pull down menus on organized subjects, so you think it would be easy to find the information you seek on the legalities of installing a vacuum pump system at your business.
Unfortunately, this is rarely true. Once you navigate to what seems the appropriate page, you will often find that there is a dearth of information pertinent to the search you are conducting particularly when you are looking for a less common subject. You might find a lot of info on applying for a construction mortgage or garbage days, but not on more involved subjects. For those, you have to phone city hall.
Which of course brings us to what is still the best possible place to find listings for business and government in any area, including Albuquerque, and that is the phone book. In fact, businesses and government numbers have their own sections of the phone book all to themselves. If you're looking for a business which pays cash for scrap gold or state sponsored drug rehabilitation, you will find the service in the business (Yellow Page) or government section of the phone book. In both cases, these services are always divided up by the specific opportunities they provide, making things even easier.
So if you are looking for listings for government or business services in the Albuquerque area, the best advice we can give is to pick up the phone book. It may seem 20th century, but it's tried and true!
